Once upon a time there was a young couple who lived deep in the woods, quite far away from malls and movie theaters and even computers. In the winters, when the meadows were covered with snow and the wind bit in too much to go promenading, they found that they had more time on their hands than they knew what to do with.
After all the chores were done for the day, and both had tired their eyes from reading, they would sit by the warm fire and play a game. The husband would start telling a story, and th wife would tell some more, then they would take turns telling parts. |

Eventually, they got so good at telling stories, they would play this game and write down all that was told. The husband would get up in the morning and leave his sweetheart sleeping in bed. He would sneak into the other room and light the candles at the table and write a short paragraph before he went out to gather wood for the day. Shortly after he was gone, his wife would get up and before even washing her face she would sit down at the table and read what her husband had written that morning and then would add a little something of her own to the story. As the days went on, they would take every opportunity to read and write the story. |
